If you are the parent of child who loves Cbeebies then you will be aware of the very popular Mike the Knight show. My son is 5 and he loves nothing better than watching this shoe back to back on iPlayer. The stories centre around the young knight Mike who wants to be a real knight and "do it right" however he usually gets it wrong until he is helped by his friends the dragons Sparkie and Squirt or his sister Evie.
So when I was offered the chance to review the new Mike the Knight toys my son nearly bit my hand off! We weren't sure which one we would get but my son was so excited that it was the Glendragon Playset with Mike's bedroom and Galahad's stable. In fact when I opened the parcel it happened to be when we had another 5 year old and his 3 year old brother round. They were all so excited by the contents they nearly had a fight over it!
The toy is a replica of the TV show with a slide from the bedroom to the stable. The horse Galahad has an indented saddle so that the Mike figure sits securely on him. The horse also can be adjusted to rear up at various angles.
The set has various bits to explore with an a bed to lift up to access the slide, hidden treasure and a revolving door. My son and his friends have really enjoyed playing with it. After a few weeks of play my son is still keen on it as well.
When looking online this set is available from ToysRUs at £29.99. It has connections on it which link in with other parts of the set. My son is dead keen on getting more parts which include:
The toy seems very well made and stands up well to being played with robustly. If your child is a fan of Mike the Knight then this would make a good edition to their toy collection which can be added to if required.
It's a great playset x
