Reasons to be Cheerful: Proud Mum and Running #R2BC

So little time to post this week that I am combining my normal two posts into one! Therefore a few of my reasons to be cheerful are fitness related...

1) Out Run May on track

My charity challenge for Macmillan Cancer care to run 80 miles this month is well on track and I am relishing trying different routes and mixing up my distances from 1 mile to 10 km in a run. Running on evenings like this are a tonic for the soul:

2) Speeding up

The regular running is speeding me up too. Last weekend was my fastest 5k and Parkrun for 2 years. An extra bonus was this awesome finish photo:

3) Proud Mum #1

We all ran our local colour run in aid of the local hospice on Sunday. Not often all 3 of us lace up our trainers:

Reasons to be cheerful Flaming June #R2BC

This has been one of those months when focusing on the small positives has provided light at the end of the tunnel! Being able to smile and laugh when things aren't going well means that it's not all doom and gloom. So here are the things that have kept me sane this week:

1) Splat

You can't help but smile when your child gets a face full of cream when playing a silly game (he laughed when I got hit too!):

2) Super long run

I braved the heat to achieve my longest run for over a year with 7.5 miles through beautiful countryside:

3) Proud mum #1

My son did a fell race on that hot day and tried his very best:

He also had sports' day and helped his house to their first victory in 13 years!

Reasons to be Cheerful: Galloping! #R2BC

A day late thanks to the General Election and in order to remain cheerful I won't talk about the results! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) On the bus

Not having a car gave us an excuse to travel on the bus to our races at Grasmere this weekend.  You get the most amazing views from the top of the 555 on a clear and sunny day:

It was even more fun taking the open top bus back for part of the route:

2) Grasmere Gallop

This was my son's 4th go at the 5.7 km fun run at the Gallop and he was only 5 seconds off his PB:

I had braved the main 10 km race for the first time and boy was it tough. So I was very pleased to complete it in 1 hour and 14 minutes:

We were very pleased with ourselves:

3) New School

My daughter has moved to a new school and she seems really happy there so far. She is now at a secondary school that is smaller than her brother's primary school! Just hoping she keeps enjoying it and continues to do well.

Reasons to be Cheerful: Half term fun #R2BC

Sorry I have been AWOL for most of May. It was a tough month at work and we have been so busy I haven't had a chance to post! Hopefully this bunch of cheer will make up for it...

1) Running in the Howgills

A lovely evening running with my son's junior group up into the Howgills followed by a picnic in the park:

2) Swimming in Windermere

After a very hot parkrun it was bliss to take a dip in the rather chilly waters of Windermere:

3) Slimming down

I am looking so much slimmer than at the start of the year and feeling fabulous:

3) Charity football tournament
