Rydal Water Swim

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

On Wednesday my daughter and I headed up to Rydal Water for an open water swim. It was such a beautiful day and so peaceful:

We parked in the LDNP car park (note it only accepts cash at the moment) and took a short walk to a secluded little beach. Then we went out into the blissfully warm water:

It was so calm and still with just the current from the river causing any commotion:

We both enjoyed swimming around and trying out the action camera:

It was a real boost to the spirits to be out in what felt like a private lake with just the occasional duck for company:

Here is a video compilation from our dip:

  1. I can see it's going to be a tipsy weekend. Don't drink it all at once!

This water looks so inviting!!! We are big fans of wild swimming too. Last weekend, we also went for a swim in a river - the Barrow in Ireland, and it was just idyllic.

Oh this brings back such memories for me, I used to do triathlons with work in Holland years ago. The hardest part is coming off a bike and starting to run, your legs just feel like jelly! Well done to everyone taking part, it looks like a fun event well organised with your help and in beautiful weather.

What a gorgeous lake for a spot of wild swimming. I saw a news report last week warning people not to do it, right after a bulletin on overweight problems in our country, the BBC didn't seem to see the irony in that! we love wild swimming and do so here in Cornwall and even in the river here at Coombe Mill. I must say your lake looks so clear and beautiful, what could be more enjoyable on a gorgeous sunny day?

  7. We were sensible and didn’t jump in and stayed where we could stand. It’s all a matter of balance. It was heavenly

  9. We haven't been wild swimming this summer yet. That will almost certainly change very soon - one of our absolute favourite outdoor activities! Hope this inspires others to take the plunge! #CountryKids
