#CountryKids Fell Foot, Windermere

We discovered Fell Foot on the shores of Windermere not long after moving up here. It's a great way to use our National Trust membership as we can park all day for nothing! Today we were meeting up with 2 other families so headed off to get there about 10:45 this morning. When we got there it looked absolutely glorious:

Our first stop was the adventure play area. This has recently had most of the Rhododendrons removed due to a disease so was much lighter and open than previously. We spent a lot of our 6 hour visit with the children enjoying what there was in this section:

"death slide"

Basket swing
Climbing Frame
After a snack the children felt it was time to go down to the lake itself. Baring in mind that its April and the water is still oh so cold it didn't stop any of the children from taking off their shoes and socks then rolling up their trousers:

They made it look more like summer than spring! My daughter had wanted me to bring her swimming costume but I knew the water wouldn't be safe for a child to swim in due to the cold.

Funnily after getting their feet all wet the children all then asked for ice creams. Luckily the cafe was well stocked with wonderful local ice creams and other well known brands:

Much of the rest of the afternoon was spent back in the playground though I was given more chances to take photographs by trips to buy hot drinks and accompany children to the toilets!:

I am really looking forward to going back again soon if we have more good weather. Its just such a fabulous local place to spend a day outdoors for both adults and children. For a laid back day out with a group of families it takes some beating.

We will be back to check out what the birds are up to next:

  1. Looks like a great place for a day out. Be good to return there in the Summer too.
Looks very peaceful now - wonder if it gets a lot busier in the hotter months.
Thanks for linking to the Spring Carnival.
