My Top Nine Videos on YouTube

This was the year my YouTube channel finally got some momentum thanks to my filming of fell running! It is such a shame the rules of making money changed just as it was taking off as I would have a steady little income from it... I need to boost my subscribers to match the views and then I can earn some pennies *blatant beg*

Meanwhile here are my top nine videos by views from the last 12 months:

1) 3 Peaks Fell Race on Pen Y Ghent

My son and I hiked part way up to film the brave souls setting out on this year's 3 Peaks Fell Race the marathon with mountains:

2) Grasmere Sports Senior Guides Race

I was working as a steward at this year's Grasmere Sports so missed my son's fell race. I did get out in time to film the Seniors with commentary by the legendary Pete Bland:

3) Anniversary Waltz and Teenager with Altitude descent from Cat Bells

My son again helped me to film the final descent of these races from side of Cat Bells. A stunning day to cheer on the runners as they headed for home:

Kendal Mountain Festival 2018

We have just had the 2018 Kendal Mountain Festival from Thursday to Sunday. My son went to the opening ceremony on the Thursday night and I had to collect him from Basecamp at the Brewery:

Then on Friday he had a school visit to the Leisure Centre for talks and films. In the evening we went to see a talk on film making from Salt Street Productions who had inspired me last year:

#CountryKids A weekend of fun at Kendal Mountain Festival #Kendal17

Having popped up  quick post with just a YouTube video yesterday I thought I had better elaborate a bit more about the fun we had at Kendal Mountain Festival this weekend! First of all I got us tickets to see a talk about a new Channel 4 show Britain's Abandoned Playgrounds. This is a show where a free runner, slack liner, BMX rider and skateboarder have fun in some unusual locations:

There was a chat with the makers of the show plus the stars. A couple of them demonstrated their skills in front of us (check out the video from yesterday...) We watched some footage and then got to see the world premiere of the first episode. At the end the stars were happy to stop and chat to the children:

Outside lots of the children had a go at free running around on the walls etc much to the angst of us parents! Guttingly I had missed out on tickets to see Steve Backshall who was on next so we went home for the night.

On the Sunday we walked into Kendal to the Base Camp at the Brewery Arts Centre:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Kendal Mountain Festival, Getting Organised and Family

I will have to be more organised next week when Michelle hands the baton back to me as the host! She has done a lovely job this month. Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Kendal Mountain Festival

Kendal has a well deserved reputation for its festivals and the Mountain one was fabulous to explore. I just wish I'd been able to see a few films:

2) Getting Organised

It may be a drop in the ocean but paperwork with no home was a big problem. So I bought myself a handy home filing system and I've begun to work on getting the paperwork under control:

3) Family Time

An unexpected invite out to dinner with my parents was the highlight of the week. Tapas at a local restaurant followed by games back at our house. It all made for a perfect Saturday evening:

4) Fabulous Views

The thing that makes up the long drive along the A590 is the view. At the moment I get to see snow covered mountains, Morecambe Bay, the Hoad monument and some fabulous sunrise/sunsets. To top it off the slag heap behind school did an impression of Uluru one morning this week:
