Reasons to be Cheerful in the Merry Month of May #R2BC

In case you haven't noticed I have handed the reins back to Michelle for the month! Hopefully there will be lots of back sharing the happiness now Easter is over... Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Holiday Homework

My son had one of those homeworks over Easter that requires adult assistance! Turned out it was not only myself but another teacher buddy who got his football stadium going. I then had to turn it into the Ghanian National Football stadium complete with shades for the stands:

2) Seven blipping years

My Blipfoto journal hit the 7 year mark this week which I am extremely proud of! Just a shame I didn't have a chance to celebrate with anything more exciting than our pebble collection:

3) Car Booting

I did back to back car boots this weekend which netted a decent amount of takings and reduced our surplus. These Barbie beauties were left over so I will donate them to my class doll's box as there are never enough to go round!

Reasons to be Cheerful: Its Advent #R2BC

Blimey what happened to November it vanished so fast! I can't believe that its December and my turn to take over as host from Michelle. With the season of goodwill fast approaching I am looking forward to reading lots of happy posts from other folks. Meanwhile here are my reasons to be cheerful for this week:

1) #ReverseAdvent

I had heard about the great idea to have a Reverse Advent box into which every day in Advent you place an item so that on Christmas Eve you can donate it to a family or individual who would benefit. I was lucky to receive one of the CoOp's Reverse Advent boxes and we are looking forward to filling it with various items over the next 24 days.

2) Photo Fun

With long days at work and dark nights my photography has been limited. With a daily shot needed for my Blipfoto journal I have been having fun doing a mini series of our Funko Pop collection.  This was the latest one with Sven from Frozen:

3) 100 Fell Foot parkruns

This weekend we celebrated both the 100th parkrun at Fell Foot and also the 100th parkrun by our director Ron. We had a marshal takeover by the National Trust, we sang a special song to Ron and I ran the whole way with a regular volunteer and helped him to a new PB! 

4) Proud Mum

My son had his first indoor athletics competition with Kendal Athletics Club, it was down in Blackpool but the travel and an entire day in a sports hall were made worth it by his second place in the chest push:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Proud Mum #R2BC

Still having laptop issues but I can still just about blog! Last week of me hosting and then I am handing over to the lady that started it all for May. So glad Michelle is back in the Reasons to be Cheerful family. Here are my other reasons this week:
1) Proud Mum

My daughter had her first secondary school parents' evening this week. Not sure who was more nervous her or me! Turns out the majority of her teachers think she is a great asset to their lessons and miss her input when she is not there. I knew she was doing well academically but its great to hear such lovely things said about her. 

2) Operation Garden

I've already blogged about the things we have been doing in the garden. On Timehop a picture popped up showing the state of the garden on the day I got the keys. It made me smile to see how far we have come:

3) Six Years on Blipfoto

I celebrated my 6th anniversary on the daily photo site Blipfoto this week. I have taken 2,192 daily photos since I started and I have no plans to stop just yet:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Autumnal edition #R2BC

Thanks everyone for joining in last week I hope I have visited you all!. I find that sharing little happy things can really lift the mood whatever may have happened in the week. Here are my reasons this week's:
1) Autumnal walks
This is my favourite time of year and until today its been fabulous to walk or run around in the sunshine and enjoy the almost magical look that autumn brings the trees:

2) 2000 Blips

My blipfoto journal racked up its 2000th photograph this week. I used the photograph from Fell Foot Parkrun's birthday celebrations and received so many stars and hearts I hit the popular page:

The Parkrun is even using my shot as its Facebook profile pic!

3) Birthday camp out sleepover

My daughter and 4 of her friends successfully camped out in the garden for her 12th birthday celebrations! Not much sleep had but a lot of fun:

My last week as host until October! I will be handing back to the wonderful Jo at Ojo's World for September. It's been lovely to be back hosting and sharing all your happy posts. Here are mine for this week:

1) Feeling positive

2) Fun with the family

You can see by all the blogposts this week that we have been having a lot of fun together with our wider family during the holidays. Here is a very cheerful photo of my son and I on top of Orrest Head on Sunday (I haven't blogged this one yet!):

3) Birthdays

These are always reasons to be cheerful and we celebrated my dad's birthday this week:

4) Working

I've been enjoying working as a nursery nurse this week. There is something about spending time with babies that makes me all happy!

I know that is because I may not post much on the blog but when I do it is good quality. I also engage with people on social media and my photos recently on Instagram have been extremely popular recently. 

2) Blipfoto

Hard to believe I have been on Blipfoto for 5 years! It has honed my photography and I have made new friends. These are my most popular photos over the years:

3) Running

Its been quite a week running wise. My daughter finally got the running bug and joined him in a fun run:

Then I ran the 10 k St George's Day race! 

And the next day my daughter and I did the colour dash in Kendal:

No wonder I haven't had time to blog!

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 17 - 2014 #R2BC

It's been great seeing more people returning to this linky whilst its been hosted at Ojo's World this month - hope you all stick with it when it comes back to me in May! I am feeling kinda shattered after going back to work after Easter so keeping my reasons mostly to a photo edition this week:

1) Time with friends

It was one of the 3 annual get togethers with my secondary school friends this Saturday. There were 5 of us plus 3 husbands and 8 out of 9 of our kids. Plenty of conversation, wine and good food - oh and of course chocolates:

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 17 #R2BC

Michelle is feeling like Pollyana this week and has found reasons to smile even when things are making her feel sad. Here are the reasons I am smiling this week:

1) My big boy

He had his first St George's Day as a Beaver Scout this week:

He looks so grown up and proud of himself! Not such a little boy any more.

2) 3 years of blipping

I celebrated 3 years on the blipfoto photo sharing web site this week.

It's been such fun on their and this week got into the Spotlight for my anniversary blip.

3) My girl

After last week's Gollum my daughter did her own interpretation of the weeping angels from Dr Who:

She has such a great imagination!

1000 daily photographs

Yes one thousand photographs on to my blipfoto journal as of today! I posted the 1000th one this evening having been nervous all week about hitting the milestone. Basically you get an awful lot more views for posts that hit certain figures so you want to showcase your best. Today was grey and miserable and I didn't have much time to do anything.

I spent quite some time trying to take photos of my children with my proper camera but somehow they were all either naff or the children pulled silly faces! Then after we had got back in from swimming and football I experimented with a gerbera which was all I had in the house that looked good enough to photograph... Eventually I got something I was happy to tweak and then post:

It's been amazing how many lovely comments I've had already tonight and not just from my regular visitors. Being on blipfoto has helped me to improve my photography and to keep my eyes pealed for something different. These are some of my more recent favourite shots:
