Reasons to be Cheerful: Summer time #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

A slightly delayed reasons to be cheerful as with the heat I've been too shattered to blog after work and after school activities! I am writing this sitting in the garden whilst there is still some shade and letting the paddling pool warm up a bit for a dip later... Hopefully the warm weather is a reason for everyone to have something cheerful to share with us all this week.  Any how here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Last Primary Sports' Day

It was my son's last ever Primary Sports' Day so I made sure I was there having not been to one since he was in Year 2! I was right on the front row to watch him in action. He came away with one 2nd place for the team obstacle relay and his house was 2nd overall so it was a good result:

2) Sunrise over Coniston Water

We were on the shores of Coniston Water at 5:45 AM on Sunday and the reward was such a beautiful tail end of the sun rise:

3) Volunteering

We were there because we were volunteers at the Triathlon. First of all we did car parking and then my son gave out medals whilst I helped with tags and marshalled at the last gate:

Reasons to be Cheerful

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

Its Thursday so that means its Reasons to be Cheerful with the lovely Michelle hosting this week! A slight change next week as its back with me even though its still May. Then we are both having a week off so that we can make the most of the school holidays with our families! Meanwhile here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Bluebells

They are looking wonderful at the moment as they hit their peak. One of my favourite flowers to see whilst out and about:

2) A country run

I am enjoying being back in my happy place and getting longer runs in back in the beautiful countryside:

3) Friends get together

The weekend saw one of our high school get togethers with our families. Wonderful to catch up with friends that live so far away from me. The children all got on really well even to the extent of a collective hide from the obligatory group photograph:

#CountryKids Athletics and Parkour in Blackpool

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

Last weekend my son was taking part in a Sporthall athletics competition in Blackpool so we headed down the M6 early in the morning so that he was there for the 9:30 start. He was running, jumping and throwing over 4 events during the day including a 2 lap race. He then went out and did Parkour in the park:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Adventures and World Book Day #R2BC

It is a good job Michelle is back hosting as life has gone bonkers here again! As you can tell by the fact I am joining a Thursday bloghop on a Saturday...  Here are my reasons to be cheerful since last week:

1) Adventures in Northumberland

We really enjoyed our break in Seahouses even with Storm Doris! I have already posted about Bamburg Castle and hope to do more posts about what we got up to. In the meantime here is a taster of how magical Northumberland beaches and castles are from our walk to Dunstanburgh Castle:

2) Hexham pitstop

We realised that about half way from Seahouses to Kendal is the historic town of Hexham, which I remember reading about in Catherine Cookson novels! So we stopped for 2 hours for an early lunch and a chance to explore the wonderful Abbey:

3) Proud Mum

I had reasons to be cheerful about both my children this week. First up my son at his latest athletics competition. He tried his very best and managed a 4th position in one of the events:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Proud Mum #R2BC

It was lovely reading all the happy posts last week. Thank you to Michelle for hosting again this week. My reasons are virtually all proud mum ones this week!

1) Super cook

My daughter is doing catering again this term and rustled up a swiss roll for her first lesson. Shame my kids left it all for me:

2) Parkrun girl

My daughter volunteered to come running at parkrun again with me this week. She did so much better and was a lot faster knocking 20 seconds off her time. Hopefully once her play is over she will be doing more runs with me:

3) Chest Push PB

At his latest competition my son beat his previous PB by 50 cm for the joint longest throw:

My other reason to be cheerful will be appearing in my Fitness Friday post tomorrow ;-)

Reasons to be Cheerful: Its Advent #R2BC

Blimey what happened to November it vanished so fast! I can't believe that its December and my turn to take over as host from Michelle. With the season of goodwill fast approaching I am looking forward to reading lots of happy posts from other folks. Meanwhile here are my reasons to be cheerful for this week:

1) #ReverseAdvent

I had heard about the great idea to have a Reverse Advent box into which every day in Advent you place an item so that on Christmas Eve you can donate it to a family or individual who would benefit. I was lucky to receive one of the CoOp's Reverse Advent boxes and we are looking forward to filling it with various items over the next 24 days.

2) Photo Fun

With long days at work and dark nights my photography has been limited. With a daily shot needed for my Blipfoto journal I have been having fun doing a mini series of our Funko Pop collection.  This was the latest one with Sven from Frozen:

3) 100 Fell Foot parkruns

This weekend we celebrated both the 100th parkrun at Fell Foot and also the 100th parkrun by our director Ron. We had a marshal takeover by the National Trust, we sang a special song to Ron and I ran the whole way with a regular volunteer and helped him to a new PB!

4) Proud Mum

My son had his first indoor athletics competition with Kendal Athletics Club, it was down in Blackpool but the travel and an entire day in a sports hall were made worth it by his second place in the chest push:

Olympics with Coca-Cola

Tonight my mum and I enjoyed our prize trip to the athletics thanks to Coca-Cola! What an amazing experience. Here is a taster before I can write a full post:

A quick Olympic post

I had an amazing time today with my children at the Olympic athletics. We were so lucky to get the really cheap tickets. They turned out to be right at the top of the stadium! incredibly we were at the top of the steps with no-one in front of us. It was pretty chilly up the top as there are vents in the back and under the roof but the sun was kept off us.

It was an electric atmosphere with huge cheers for any British competitor. We also supported the back markers in any race. The vast majority of people were so friendly and it was a pleasant place to be with young children.

Only down side were the queues for food and drink and getting back to tube! Getting in went very smoothly and all the staff and volunteers were pretty jolly.

It's not yet been possible to get my photos from my camera (I am blogging from M6!), so this is what I grabbed on my trusty iPhone:
