#CountryKids Seahouses and Dunstanburgh Castle

Country Kids

Catching up on some Country Kids adventures from earlier in the year!

On the second whole day of my stay in Seahouses at February half term Storm Doris hit... So we resorted to alternative entertainments such as the arcade:

and after a run in the wind we had fun trying out my mum's waterproof camera in the swimming pool:

It was incredibly wild outside:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Adventures and World Book Day #R2BC

It is a good job Michelle is back hosting as life has gone bonkers here again! As you can tell by the fact I am joining a Thursday bloghop on a Saturday...  Here are my reasons to be cheerful since last week:

1) Adventures in Northumberland

We really enjoyed our break in Seahouses even with Storm Doris! I have already posted about Bamburg Castle and hope to do more posts about what we got up to. In the meantime here is a taster of how magical Northumberland beaches and castles are from our walk to Dunstanburgh Castle:

2) Hexham pitstop

We realised that about half way from Seahouses to Kendal is the historic town of Hexham, which I remember reading about in Catherine Cookson novels! So we stopped for 2 hours for an early lunch and a chance to explore the wonderful Abbey:

3) Proud Mum

I had reasons to be cheerful about both my children this week. First up my son at his latest athletics competition. He tried his very best and managed a 4th position in one of the events:

#CountryKids at Bamburgh Castle

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

I finally got to join my parents and children in Northumberland and on my first day we drove up the coast to Bamburgh Castle. It is visible from a long distance away and from close up its very impressive:

We wrapped up against the bitter wind and walked up the hill and in through the gateway:

Despite the cold we decided to explore the outside parts of the castle first including the impressive display of cannons on the battlements:

#CountryKids on Hadrian's Wall #WhateverTheWeather

Monkey and Mouse

We had a three generation trip to Hadrian's Wall on what turned out to be a pretty hot day. It was going to be a proper hike so when we got out of the car at Steel Rigg car park we all donned our proper boots and slapped on the sun block:

The route to the wall is very well signposted as this is one of the most popular sections of the Wall to walk:

Once we exited the trees the reason for the Romans building the wall here became clear as they used the natural contours as part of the defences:
