Reasons to be Cheerful: Running, hills and sunshine #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

We have been so busy creating memories and enjoying the wonderful weather that I am a few days later joining in with Michelle on Reasons to be Cheerful this week! It has been a pretty happy week for us.

1) Hiking up Pen Y Ghent

I have already blogged about our wonderful hike up Pen Y Ghent to film the 3 Peaks' Race. How can views like this on a sunny day not lift the spirits:

2) Kendal Colour Dash

Being part of a community fund raiser brought smiles to lots of our faces:

3) Social Running

A friend of mine realised that there a lots of ladies in the area who sometimes could do with a companion on a run. So she started a Facebook group and 3 of us met for a run at Sizergh Castle. I will be writing a full post about it but these were our smiles at the end of 5 km:

4) Elections

We had a full local council election this time and with a controversial issue over a free "car park" being returned to common use it was going to be a closer one than in previous years. I was relieved that the people I voted for got back in as they have done a lot of work for the town.

#CountryKids at the Kendal Colour Dash 2018

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

On Sunday my son and I donned white t-shirts and joined approximately 1,400 people of all ages to take part in the Kendal Colour Dash. This was my 4th and his 3rd colour dash which raises money for our local hospice. We started by covering ourselves in the powders that we had bought ourselves:

My son then abandoned me to find his friends so I warmed up with the crowd. He ended up near the front of the start whereas I was somewhere nearer the back so he got a flying start and I was held up in the crowd! I recorded my run on the head cam as well as snapping some pics on my phone:

It was certainly an explosion of colour even if there wasn't much dash for those of us in the main crowd:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Spring has sprung? #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

I am having major laptop problems and can't currently access my photos properly - eek! Despite that I have many reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Blast from the past

Whilst sorting through a box in my room I came across this rather glamorous shot of me from when I was in my mid-20s:

Nice to remember I once looked like this!!

2) Sunny days

The weather has been stunning here so far this week and I spent a morning gardening with a class in this meadow:

3) Walking to work

I am lucky that my current position lets me walk to and from home every day. Crossing the River Kent is lovely:

4) Family fund raising

On Sunday the children and I ran up and around Kendal Castle in aid of St John's Hospice. So much fun and hopefully we raised a lot of money too (lots more pics on Flickr):

Reasons to be Cheerful: Blog Love and Blipping! #R2BC

Ojos World

I am oh so late joining the lovely Jo at Ojo's World with reasons to be cheerful! Life is just far too busy and I haven't blogged over a week... Any way my reasons to be cheerful are:

1) Blog love

Seeing my much neglected blog pop back into the "Tots 100" top 200 at 186!

April 20152679186Up 14

I know that is because I may not post much on the blog but when I do it is good quality. I also engage with people on social media and my photos recently on Instagram have been extremely popular recently.

2) Blipfoto

Hard to believe I have been on Blipfoto for 5 years! It has honed my photography and I have made new friends. These are my most popular photos over the years:

3) Running

Its been quite a week running wise. My daughter finally got the running bug and joined him in a fun run:

Then I ran the 10 k St George's Day race!

And the next day my daughter and I did the colour dash in Kendal:

No wonder I haven't had time to blog!
