Race 1: the 113 under 11s and 13s were lucky as the first ones to tackle the course because it wasn't too badly churned up! However as the smallest runners in the league they had to be pretty brave to get into water that was deeper than adult wellies in places. Some managed to jump it, others waded it and some just had a bad day...
Race 2: the 39 under 15s were the only juniors that tackle the water twice. At least they either got a chance to improve on crossing one...
...or make a bigger splash second time round...
Race 3: only 22 under 17s raced the one long lap which meant they only had to undertake the water jump once. Most of them decided to attempt to leap over the water...
Race 4: the 188 under 21s and seniors had 2 full laps of the course, so a second chance at the water jump. By their race the approach and exit areas were extra glutinous and slippery...
Second time around they either got more adventurous or fell victim to the beck:
