On Sunday we were round at my parents' house and my children helped to clear up the grass cuttings from a fortnight's lawn growth! Its one of those simple yet hard little jobs that they seem to enjoy and it all helps to get the grass clear quicker. Although my daughter seemed to think that creating a nest with the cuttings and having a snooze in the sun is part of the plan:
So little brother took over and manfully brushed the cuttings off the grass onto the path for granny to put in the compost bin:
Then he was lifted into the compost bin to trample it all down as the bin was rather full. It made for a cosy little nest:
And he could pretend to hide in the bin:
As he was being supervised too he had a chance to see what it was like inside the bin with the lid closed!
What jobs in the garden do your children help with?
Such sweet photos! My daughter also enjoys our garden. Although not a fan of pulling weeds she loves to plant, water and harvest or vegetables. I think more people should introduce their children to the outdoors and a little hard work never hurt anyone.
ReplyDeletebest to start young!
ReplyDeleteGreat post and lovely to see them enjoying helping out :)
ReplyDeleteMy two love gardening too - they're big fans of planting and helping me to mow the lawn (we have a little manual mower that they help to push). My eldest loves weeding too, which is rather helpful ;) #countrykids
lol i used to make grass nests when i was little! x
ReplyDeleteCute pics. This reminds me of raking pine needles at my Grandma Love's house when I was growing up. We used to rake for hours then haul all the needles in the wheelbarrow to the ditch to burn them. Burning them was our favorite part.
ReplyDeleteI think the children's favourite job is whichever job I'm doing. They are pretty good. Hope you rescued your son from the bin. #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteOur lot love helping daddy, especially raking up leaves :) Stomping in buckets is always good fun too! #CountryKids
ReplyDeleteMy eldest loves to rake the grass, collect leaves, water the plants. He's a good little helper in the garden! #CountryKids
