Reasons to be Cheerful: End of term #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

It was so fabulous having plenty of new people joining in with the linky last week. I hope you have had a chance to visit them all. Reading them made me feel a lot happier over the last few days.

This has been another rubbish week healthwise with the latest thing being my daughter developing an allergy to penicillin! My son and I have still got our cold too... This hasn't stopped us finding reasons to smile and with today being the end of spring term in Cumbria we are so looking forward to a much needed break. Here are the things that have kept me smiling through it all this week:

1) Blue skies

We have had some stunning weather up here in the North West. The colour of the sky has been amazing:

2) Daffodils

The yellow beauties have been bursting out all over:

3) Sport Relief

My son and I overcame our colds to run just under 3 miles for Sport Relief - he was 10 minutes faster than me! If you want to sponsor us the link is http://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/teambeckywilloughby

Our Sainsbury's Sport Relief Games

Sponsored Post

As Sainsbury's were the main sponsor of the Sport Relief Games this weekend they had stocked lots of useful goodies to help participants:

We had already made use of the Sport bag on our Team Honk event:

Yesterday my son and I headed to our local leisure centre for our the Sport Relief Games in Kendal. Big sister pulled out due to leg pain. The two of us were keen to go:

It was nice day for a run as not too sunny or hot:

We all lined up the start line from toddlers to pensioners:

We even had the mayor of Kendal there to start us off and present the medals when we crossed the finish line:

My son did his 3 laps with ease whilst I chugged round 9 times... he had to come and run last one with me! So proud of him he could probably have done the 3 mile event:

I was relieved to get my medal as I found running on the increasingly muddy grass hard work after a lack of training:

Well done everyone who walked, ran, swam or cycled for Sport Relief at the Sainsbury Games. If you haven't sponsored anyone else then consider sending some pennies to our fundraising page.

We were sent the Sainsbury goodies as we are part of the Sainsbury Blogger Network.

#CountryKids 3 Castles 1 Day!

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

As part of Team Honk last weekend we went to 3 castles in 1 day which made for a fun Country Kids experience. First up Kendal Castle which is our local castle. This involves a bit of a hike from town but its very accessible to us:

It was very cold on the top but it didn't prevent my kids from playing hide and seek in the ruins and flashing their Sports Relief goodies:

We had a gentle if slippy run down the hill from Kendal castle before being transported through the hills and lovely Cumbrian countryside to Brough Castle. There isn't much of the castle left as apparently it was accidentally burned down in 1521 at a party! What the kids liked was the Ice Cream Parlour the local farmer has opened at the entrance to the castle.. Yummy ice cream! Then on to the castle itself which has some friendly sheep living on the grounds:

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 10 - 2014 #R2BC

This is my first week back as host for a month as Jo at Ojosworld held the reins for February. She did a great job so thanks Jo! Now to my reasons for this week..

1) Blue skies

We had a couple of back to back lovely days when we were able to walk around on our normal activities . It makes such a difference to your mood when the sky is this colour:

2) Operation House

On Saturday my son couldn't find the movie he wanted so I said that the kids had to help sort out our DVD collection to reunite all the orphan movies into their correct boxes. It meant that for a change our movies are looking incredibly neat and I've been able to recycle some plastic drawers out of the sitting room. How long will our films stay like this:

With the arrival of a stranger to measure blinds for kids' rooms I had a mad dash to make the front room and landing visitor friendly. OK so its not perfect but its a million times better! I have signed up to 40 bags in 40 days so hopefully this will keep momentum rolling..

3) A trip to the National Media Museum

With it being a Skylander special week we went as a 3 generation for our first visit to the National Media Museum in Bradford. Here are a couple of sneak pics as to why it made me smile:

"Fezzes are cool"

"Exterminate!"
4) Sport Relief

With the date of our Team Honk relay leg fast approaching receiving some goodies from Sainsburys was well timed:

Why are you smiling? Please join in the hop and grab the badge if you would like:

#TeamHonk Kendal to Darlington leg

Team Honk 2014 blogger Relay

It's so exciting to be part of TeamHonk's Blogger relay for the Kendal to Darlington leg. A bit scarily right now I am the only grown up responsible for ensuring it completes its journey after its handed to me on the 12th March at the Town Hall! My children are ready and willing to help get it along the route:

whilst wearing fancy dress but I would love to have more help! We are going to stop at a couple of interesting places en route such as Brough Castle and Barnard Castle and hopefully do a little run as its supposed to be a Sport Relief event.

If you can provide us with transport or want to join in then please request to join the Facebook group or leave me a message on here. It will be much more fun with more of us taking part!

#TeamHonk Sport Relief Bloggers Relay

I signed up to help in the Team Honk Sport Relief Bloggers' Relay which is trying to get a baton from Land's End to John O' Groats to celebrate 25 years of Comic Relief. The catch is no petrol vehicles allowed... At the minute I am just about on my own to get the baton from Kendal to Darlington between the 13th and 15th of March which is 65 miles.

So I am looking for people to come and take part to work out how we can manage it. Not sure I can walk or run that far but could possible cycle in company on the Saturday...

If you can help in any way with getting that baton across the Pennines then please let me - I don't want to let Team Honk down...
