Reasons to be Cheerful: Sherlock, Girl Time and Mud! #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

As the worst host ever of the linky I am back and still grovelling over lack of commenting! Really need to get a work/life balance... Here are some of my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Sherlock

This little dynamo is continuing to grow and show his personality. Hopefully puppy training will start to reap benefits soon!

2) Girl Time

The child I support in school had 2 days off last week which gave me a chance to enjoy a lunch out with my girl. We had fun at Pedro's Casa:

3) Mud, mud, glorious mud

You may have already seen my huge grin from the Cartmel 10km run. Who knew that running in rain, mud and water could be a reason to be cheerful?

Reasons to be Cheerful: Fixes, Family and Fun #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

The linky is still being hosted by Michelle so please pop over to her blog! I have got plenty of reasons to be cheerful this week but here are just a few:

1) Bargain

We don't have a sofa and our armchairs are the wrong shape to curl up on. So I grabbed a bargain off our local Sell and Seek of another armchair plus footrest that we can share when watching TV or a movie:

2) Girl time

This weekend I had lots of time with my daughter both country dancing, then with a movie marathon with pizza on Saturday and finally the bridge tournament on Sunday. We were supervised by this handsome chap:

Reasons to be Cheerful a Happy Easter #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

I don't know about you but I really love the Easter weekend. Whether its the double bank holiday, the chocolate or celebrating Jesus there are plenty of reasons to smile at Easter. Hopefully people will have time to share their happy posts with others this week despite it being school holidays (well for many of us it is!). Here are my Easter reasons to be cheerful:

1) Fond farewells

Something I never expected working as a supply teacher/teaching assistant was to be given a farewell bouquet of flowers! I was therefore very touched after a half term in one school to be given these in front of the entire school:

2) Proud mum

My son volunteered for the first time at our local parkrun. He was assistant run director to start us all off and then sorted all 207 finish tokens at the end (2nd highest ever turnout!). Glad to say he really enjoyed it and wants to do it again:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Week 31 It's October #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

I can't believe it's October already! This is always a great month as 2 of us have birthdays and there is half term to look forward to. It's also well and truly autumn which is my favourite season. Here are just a few of my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Family Fun

We had such a fabulous time at Whinlatter on Saturday on a perfect autumn day in Cumbria. So looking forward to more visits up there over the next couple of months:

2) My boy

Sometimes he drives me round the bend then writes soppy things like this:

and he was even able to help with the washing up now he reach the sink properly (just don't tell him I had to re-wash some of it!):

Pleased to report he got 91/100 out of his second set of 100 words that he needs to know before the end of this school year!

3) Relaxing Sunday

After church and lunch on Sunday we got the bikes out of the shed and headed across town to the park. More about this in a future post but meanwhile here is my big girl demonstrating her pedalling skills:

And my reward was to sit in the sun with a book and a coffee:

In fact several friends appeared in the park so it was nice to sit and chat!

4) Girl time

Whilst my son was at Beavers I retired to the pub with my daughter and another mum. It's lovely to be able to spend time doing big girl things like Cribbage:

She is doing well at school as well this term so no worries on that front either!

5) Shredtober

Well 3 days under my belt and its not really getting easier yet! Pleased to be able keeping it up - just 25 more days to go:

I also went running for first time since my cold struck, not fastest ever but more consistent!

6) Operation House

Been a bit busy this week so not much done but we have sold a surplus chest of drawers from my daughter's room! It looks so much bigger in there now. Just need to sell the existing wardrobe and bunks so that she can get a more useful mid or high sleeper..

I did manage to donate 2 bags of clothes to the North West Air Ambulance and 1 of books to the British Heart Foundation so its small steps... Hoping I can get more done over the next week...

Reasons to be Cheerful: End of Summer ( #R2BC )

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

Thanks everyone who joined in when I hosted last week's linky this week the host is Angie so please go and check it all out over there! Back to my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Toys R Us Toyologists

My family have been picked as one of the 24 families to review Toys R Us toys and games in the run up to Christmas. You will be able to read our views here  on the blog, on the Toys R Us Toy Box and the Toys R Us UK Facebook page. We are looking forward to putting toys for 4-6 year olds through their paces so you can get a heads up before Christmas.

2) Girl Time

I don't often get time to spend alone with my daughter as her brother always seems to want to tag along! So it was fabulous to have a whole afternoon this Sunday just with her. It was a super girlie fest with lunch at Pizza Express, watching Brave at the cinema in 3D (whilst holding hands), listening to a live band at the Brewery before walking home. Being just the two of us was truly lovely:

3) Paralympics

The end of the Olympics left a bit of a gap and was a let down after all the excitement. My son is still aspiring to be the next Usain Bolt (or Jessica Ennis) so I hope that 2 more weeks of top sporting action will keep him going! The opening ceremony was incredible so let's hope the action lives up to that!
