Reasons to be Cheerful: Family, Friends and Fun #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

Now we are in November I have handed the hostess mantle back to the founder Michelle. We will be in good hands until I am in charge again for December! Its been a pretty good week for me from the tail end of half term and then some glorious weather. Here are some of the things that had made me cheerful:

1) Catching up with friends

One of my school friends was up north with her family for the holidays and we enjoyed spending time with them and showing them our castle:

One of my single parent friends is also in the area for a break and we met up for coffee and cake at Yard 46

2) Time with my girl

We had a delightful day trip to Lancaster to spend birthday money and try out a vegetarian restaurant:

Such a pleasure to spend a laid back day with her. Then last night we were at the Brewery as a puppetry project she worked on had a showing for the parents. She had done an amazing job!

3) Time with my boy

Saturday was all about running together with parkrun in the morning and a Fright Run in the evening (Thanks to James Kirkby for the photo):

4) Time with wider family

It was lovely to go to the zoo with my parents at the weekend. This gave us all many reasons to be cheerful including quite some time watching these cuties:

5) Time with my mum

We made the most of an opportunity this week to go out for lunch and tried out the 2 Sisters' Cafe in Kendal:

6) Halloween fun

Our little street was buzzing for Halloween with lots of very polite ghosts, ghouls and witches. I got quite a few compliments for the pumpkin I carved using a template I found online too:

  1. It's been gorgeous weather all in all here the last week too! Looks like you had a good one. :) Our half term finished and we were back to school this week which has been a bit of a relief! :)

  2. It looks like a great family day out. I am very impressed with the entrance fee. I am scared of birds so don't think I would've been brave enough to go in the aviary! The haunted house was a nice addition for halloween #countrykids

Park runs always look like so much fun, our local one is a Saturday which is changeover so I've never managed to take part myself. It's fab to see all the people taking part made the effort to dress up a little, even if some had to abandon their costumes half way around the course. You and your son both look fab in your costumes, the Fright Run sounds like a fab way to spend the evening.

Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

South Lakes Safari Zoo looks like a great way to spend the afternoon, a fab birthday present for your son. I love the large selection of animals there, the Macaws are so colourful, it's amazing how close you can get to them. Your son appears to have had a fantastic time, I can see why your parents bought him tickets to go!

Thanks for sharing with me on #CountryKids.

This looks like a lot of fun, great to see so many getting into the spirit and wearing costumes :) Although I have to admit, we do a Halloween 5k each year and I have yet to try running it in costume myself! #countrykids

  12. I've never done a Parkrun but it looks like fun and I love all the Halloween costumes. I can imagine that masks are not ideal for running in. Love the photo of the two people in the boat :-) #countrykids
