Reasons to be Cheerful: The Sun is Still Shining! #R2BC

I am sure we are all thinking that this nice weather can't last but making the most of it whilst it is here! Thanks for everyone who joined in last week and I do hope that I managed to visit you all... Now for this week's reasons to be cheerful for me:

1) A mended car!

My car has been playing up on and off all summer and I thought it was just the heat. The final straw came on Friday when it refused to restart as I tried to leave the supermarket and get to my training course.. As I was close to my garage I called them and they came with a courtesy car and took mine away. Not long after I finished for the day they finished fitting a brand new starter motor. So I now have a reliable car again - even if the bank balance took a little knock..

2) Confirmation of student status

I am now officially a student at Cumbria University as the paperwork took a while to clear! Nice to be able to get my NUS discount card for special offers. It should help to pay for all those text books I need..

3) Torchlight

I've already done a full blog post on the carnival as it was such an amazing evening. Made me so proud of our adopted town:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Indian Summer Edition #R2BC

I do hope everyone is still smiling a week (or more!) back into the new school term? Thanks for everyone who joined in last week and I do hope that I managed to visit you all... Now for this week's reasons to be cheerful for me:

1)  Indian Summer

It has been a glorious few days and we have been able to spend more time outdoors soaking up the sun. Who knows when it will go away so outdoor lunch at the weekend was a must!

Reasons to be Cheerful Back to School! #R2BC

Thanks to the wonderful Jo at Ojo's World for hosting in August and taking good care of everything. The hosting is back to me for September so its time to share my reasons to be cheerful:

1) Mintfest

This weekend was the Mintfest Street Theatre festival in Kendal. We enjoyed lots of fun over the Saturday and Sunday. There were oh so many reasons to smile:

2) Back to uni!

Twenty years after completing my MA I officially went back to university this week. It's both exciting and nerve-racking to be starting teacher training at my age but on a campus like Lancaster and at a lovely village school there are plenty of reasons to be happy:

3) Being lucky

I won a Facebook/Twitter draw this week from our local shopping centre. So now I possess a deluxe art set and I've been enjoying spending my voucher at Rymans on stuff for uni! Just goes to prove that these competitions are genuine.

Keeping this short and sweet as I am shattered after starting my course... Please join us and share your happiness and grab the badge if you would like it:

Reasons to be Cheerful Back from our Hols! #R2BC

Ojos World

This month the linky is being hosted over at Ojo's World and next week it will come back to me! I may need poking to remind me... Meanwhile here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Back from a super holiday

I have briefly mentioned our holiday last week. There were so many reasons to cheerful about with a fab bunch of families in a beautiful location:

Lots more to come later this week!

Reasons to be Cheerful: Friends and Fun #R2BC

Ojos World

The blog hop is still being hosted over at Ojo's World this month so please go and say hello! I am glad she is in charge as I am rushing around like a mad thing at the moment.. and this is why:

1) Seeing friends

It is nearly 31 years since I started at school with my best friends! That is quite scary to contemplate but we all still get on so well when we gather with our many children. This weekend it was our summer gathering so we headed on down to Ascot (via Sudbury Hall). What is so great is that all 9 of our children seem to get on like a house on fire too:

2) Legoland

We hadn't been to Legoland since moving up to Cumbria 4 years ago so made the most of being close by to visit on Monday. There were plenty of smiles like these:

3) New neighbours

It was such a delight to see that a little hedgehog seems to have moved into the street. Let's hope he/she survives all the cats:

Hope lots of you join in and link up with Jo!

Reasons to be Cheerful: family time #R2BC

Ojos World

As you can see by the badge the blog hop is back to Jo at Ojo's World and she is looking after us for the rest of the month! Thanks everyone who took part with me last month and made the world a happier place. Now here are my reasons to be cheerful this week as we have had so much fun as a family this week:

1) Kid's cooking

Seeing and sampling food my children rustled up together in the kitchen was amazing!

2) A trip to Manchester

We had a 3 generation trip to Manchester at the weekend which had been re-arranged from Christmas (as my mum broke her ankle). It started with lunch at Bella Italia in the Lowry Outlet:

Reasons to be Cheerful: So much fun! #R2BC

Glad to see I am not entirely on my own to still be blogging in the school holidays judging by last week's entries. Once again thanks for joining in and sharing your happiness. I look forward to seeing what everyone has to say this week before I hand back over to Ojo's World for August (good job her Internet is fixed!). Any way here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) A day at the seaside

I had forgotten how much we loved the beach until we went to Blackpool for the day. Sun, sea and sand made for a magic combination:

Oh and a magic/comedy show too:

Reasons to be Cheerful: School's Out for Summer! #R2BC

Thanks everyone for joining in last week as always I loved reading all the posts. Hopefully everyone is enjoying the weather even if it is a way too hot! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) School's out for summer

The children and I all finished the school term on Friday. So nice to have 6 weeks of no school runs and only alarms for special days out! I do have to go in for one day during the time but that's not much in the scheme of things. We have so much to look forward to.

2) Seeing family and friends

One of the great things about living in a tourist spot is that people tend to pass through and stop to say hello! So far this week an old friend from my young free and single days took us all out for lunch as he headed home from Keswick.

Reasons to be Cheerful: The End is Nigh! #R2BC

I don't mean the end of the world but the end of term! Here in Cumbria Friday afternoon sees us breaking up for the holidays and I can't wait. No wonder it hasn't taken much to make me happy this week:

1) Tea in the park

Last Friday it was so hot I treated us all to fish and chips in the park it really was bliss to chill out in the sun at the end of a busy week:

Hoping we get more days like this in the holidays!

2) Family Bike Ride

It had been too long since we went out cycling so I took the offer of another adult willing to come with us to get us all out on our bikes. The second half of the bike ride had me smiling once my son got his confidence back:

3) Staveley Carnival

This is such an amazing event for the whole family. I've written a long post about it already but here is a taster:

Shame we have to wait 2 years for the next one!

4) Operation House

It's nice to feel at the end of the week that progress has been made in sorting the house out a bit. There are little areas that look so much better to me though its still very much a work in progress to be be completed over the summer. I even cajoled the children into starting to tidy their rooms and I am managing to slowly increase the number of chores they each do. Not a smooth ride but hopefully it will be worth it in the end..

5) Positive body image

Reasons to be cheerful: running, family fun and good news #R2BC

Thank you everyone that joined in last week with my experiment with the new style link up! We will see how it goes for the rest of the month.. Meanwhile here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Herdwick 10km

I amazed myself by completing the Herdwick 10 km on Saturday despite all the illness and problems in the week leading up to it! I may have not been the fastest ever but it even some how was my 2nd fastest recorded 10 km run (my previous goes on this route only came up as 9.9!).  It was such a lovely laid back event too with so many friendly participants and supporters. I am still waiting to find out where I finished in the field - hope it beats my 191st from April..

2) Family fun

We all had such a great time at the Langdale Gala on Sunday in glorious weather. There was something for all of us and it was a photographers dream!

3) Teacher training

Yesterday I passed my interview for teacher training so now I just need to pass the literacy and numeracy tests to prove I am intelligent enough. There will be a lot of practice tests in the next week as it is a one attempt only exam... Exciting to be on the verge of a new and momentous career...

Short one from me as I am shattered after all of the above! Please link up and grab the code/badge if you want:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Back to me for July! #R2BC

My first week a host back from the lovely Jo for June. Hope you will stick with me for July! Here are the things that made me cheerful this week:

1) An hour of non-stop running

I finally completed the 10 km runner training programme on Friday by running for an hour non-stop! So I may not be super speedy but I can do it! Just hope it stands me in good stead on Saturday..

2) Baby teeth

Its been a long wait but my son finally had is first baby tooth fall out this weekend:

Reasons to be Cheerful #Juneathon and family fun

Ojos World

The lovely Jo is still our host over at Ojo's World this week then its back to me for July! I will have to be a lot more organised... Meanwhile here is why I am smiling this week:

1) Juneathon

This challenge is inspiring me to get out and run a lot more even on my normal rest days! I am getting much fitter and ran my longest non stop run yesterday. Today I had a bit of a break but even so I deliberately parked in the middle of the village and walk for some of the school run:

2) My daughter's residential

A year later than originally intended (due to having her tonsils out!) my daughter went on an adventure residential with her school. She had lots of fun doing all sorts of outdoor activities and came back exhausted! This was taken by one her class mates:

Reasons to be Cheerful - #Juneathon and Rankings

Ojos World

Not only is the lovely Jo hosting this week but its her birthday so pop over to Ojos world and say hi! Here my reasons to be cheerful:

1) School trips

Its that time of the year when schools have lots of trips. My son was lucky and went to our local zoo with his class. He looked so grown up as he walked off to catch the bus:

He was lucky to go on a sunny day though it was a wee bit hot for me! Tomorrow I am off to assist his big sister's class trip to the local paper mill...

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 21- 2014 #R2BC

My last week a host as its back to the lovely Jo for June. Thanks everyone for joining in this month and I will see you back here in July! Here are the things that made me cheerful this week:

1) School Holidays

We are all off for the week, no alarms, school runs... bliss. It makes such a difference being able to do things at our own pace. Popping into town if we want to or just chilling at home. We haven't as yet even left Kendal its been so laid back:

2) Running with my son

It's hard for me to train for running when the children are at home. This week I took my son on a nearly 5 km run in preparation for our 5.7 km event in 2 weeks time. He did well once he had drunk all the water and got his energy levels up! I reckon he will complete the race and we should still be faster than I was last year:

3) Enjoying the garden

After all my work on Monday we have been making the most of the good weather to be in as much as possible. This was children enjoying a boogie to Steeleye Span on Monday night:

Hope that made you smile! Please join in and share your happy things with us:
