Reasons to be Cheerful: Dancing, Adventure and Steam Trains #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

Its Thursday which means its reasons to be cheerful with this month's host Michelle. Next its back to me so I will have to get organised! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Steam Train

A group of photographers had booked our local steam train to run up and down the line at the same time as we were at parkrun this weekend. How many parkruns have one of these:

2) Parkrun Marshalling

My son and I volunteered together as marshals on the meadow hill and I had taken along my camera to capture some of the action. It was lovely to get smiles out of the runners and walkers as they took on the climb:

3) Ceilidh

On Friday night I went to a ceilidh with my mum and daughter. Us youngsters were out danced by the U3A folk and Scottish dancers but we had a really time:

4) Proud Mum

My daughter is on the local youth council and had her first meeting this week. She met our local MP Tim Farron and raised her concerns about the shocking state of Mental Health care for young people in our area. She has submitted herself for election to the Youth Parliament so we will have to see what comes of that!

5) Celebrity Spotting

As part of the weekend at the Mountain Festival I enjoyed spotting the legendary Sir Chris Bonnington. It looked like he was feeling cheerful himself too:

5) Lego Time

As a reward for sorting some of the house out I sat down and reconstructed some of my son's Lego! I enjoy building sets as I showed with his Hobbit and Lord of the Rings ones.

Wow what an inspiring event for kids. I can really see the appeal of this and mine would have loved it. Outdoor activities like this really appeal to older kids and free running is such an appealing idea to them. I think they have watched too many films with it myself! A great way for the brands to promote their kit to their target audience too. Best of luck with the fell running video for next year.

  3. I'm really interested in the Youth Parliament. I've not heard of that before. I hope your daughter gets elected so we can hear more about it.

  9. That sounds like a fun event. Free running on the walls sounds like fun for the children - although I can imagine it would be quite anxiety-inducing for the adults! Getting to try out waterproof clothing under the shower sounds like fun - glad to hear your son managed to stay dry! :-) #countrykids
