If you are the parent of child who loves Cbeebies then you will be aware of the very popular Mike the Knight show. My son is 5 and he loves nothing better than watching this shoe back to back on iPlayer. The stories centre around the young knight Mike who wants to be a real knight and "do it right" however he usually gets it wrong until he is helped by his friends the dragons Sparkie and Squirt or his sister Evie.
So when I was offered the chance to review the new Mike the Knight toys my son nearly bit my hand off! We weren't sure which one we would get but my son was so excited that it was the Glendragon Playset with Mike's bedroom and Galahad's stable. In fact when I opened the parcel it happened to be when we had another 5 year old and his 3 year old brother round. They were all so excited by the contents they nearly had a fight over it!
The toy is a replica of the TV show with a slide from the bedroom to the stable. The horse Galahad has an indented saddle so that the Mike figure sits securely on him. The horse also can be adjusted to rear up at various angles.

#FlashbackFriday Baby Pics
My daughter did her first ever google whack and found a web site I'd forgotten I'd made 8 years ago! Back in the days when ivillage was the only place for mums to hang out with other mums in cyberspace I'd started it off. Needless to say I had completely ignored it for years and so had a pleasant surprise when my daughter found it.
I have now removed her name off the site but the rest remains including lots of cute baby pics.

Reasons to be Cheerful XXXIX ( #R2BC )
Here are this week's reasons to smile!
1) Blue skies and cherry blossom
There is plenty of both around this week which is guaranteed to make me smile. Walking past views like this of Kendal Green is a definite morale booster:
2) Family walks
On Saturday I went to the woods at Brigsteer in search of bluebells which are just starting to come out. With 3 generations spotting wildlife and flowers as well as playing hide and seek it was a perfect afternoon for putting a smile on lots of our faces.
3) Neighbours
With the nice weather our cul-de-sac really comes to life after school and at weekends. The children play together (mostly nicely!) and the adults have time to chat. Last night I enjoyed coffee on my friend's front lawn with 3 other ladies whilst we watched our children playing knights and running around happily. This afternoon I found out more about my immediate neighbour as we stood and chatted for about 15 minutes after putting the recycling out!
4) Diet
It was great to have a 2.5 lb loss on the scales this week. I went into the week determined to do better and did. Really need to keep the focus up though (she says whilst sipping a glass of wine!)
I am sure there are loads of other things I could have put on here but going to stop now and say look at everyone else's #R2BC:

#CharityTuesday: Living Streets #GBwalk
Following on from yesterday's Family Fun post here is a bit more about the charity and the challenge:
Living Streets is here to create better, safer streets where people want to walk. We stand up for pedestrians just like you. We campaign for change that will help cut road deaths and put people first. We work with millions of school children to get them walking to school and we work to make our streets more enjoyable places to be.
Our streets are the one public service that everyone uses, but it’s all too easy to take them for granted. Many of our streets are poorly maintained, unsafe and make it difficult for more vulnerable people to get about. And getting people walking can be crucial to tackling a range of issues, from helping people get healthier to bringing communities together. We want to see living streets for everyone, but we can only continue our campaigning activity with the help of donations.
The Great British Walking Challenge is the perfect way get involved and contribute. Simply ask your friends, family or colleagues to sponsor your Great British Walking Challenge. You’ll be doing your bit for safer streets as you walk and it’s really easy to get started.
Three easy steps to get fundraising
Make sure you register for the Great British Walking Challenge at www.livingstreets.org.uk/gbwc
Here you’ll be able to log your minutes, miles or steps walked throughout the month.
You can include all your walking whether it’s to work, school, the shops, the hairdresser
or when you’re out walking the dog. You’ll be able to keep track of how you’re doing throughout the month.
