Reasons to be Cheerful: 01/2013 ( #R2BC )

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

Joining in the bloghop from Michelle for the first time this year! This always helps to keeps me sane and feeling positive so I will hopefully be joining in as much as I can in 2013.

1) A good start to 2013

As shown in my post yesterday my healthy start to 2013 is going well. I just need to stay focused and positive to make it continue for the rest of the year. Hope this features in most weeks of R2BC.

2) My girl

Sometimes she may be a teenager in training but she has wonderful moments. We made most of yet another day off sick (3rd this term and onmy Ben back 4 days!) to have some girlie time playing playmobil. Nice to see her getting her cheeky face back too:

3) Space to play

My mum spent hours in my daughter's room tidying and sorting. Now she has room to play again in on the floor! We have exciting plans to turn it into a fully Dr Who themed room...

4) Mummy time

Having ditched the extra hours I am now free every morning. This week not fully gone to plan with my daughter being ill but I've been able to go to some mummy coffee mornings. Amazing how important it is to have time with other mums to share problems or just eat cake!

Reasons to be Cheerful week 50: My Christmas Angel ( #R2BC )

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

We have a guest host over at Pressies by Pebbles so please visit her! I'm going to focus on my daughter this week as like all mums and daughters we have our ups and downs but I'd like to focus on great things this week. She has had a rough couple of years to deal with at a young age but her angelic side can still shine through:

We've had a couple of Christmas fairs over the last few weeks that my children have helped me to sell books at. On each occasion my daughter has befriended some new people and been a fabulous addition to my sales team!

Tonight and yesterday was the Christmas production for the juniors at her school. As you can see from the photo she had a part as an angel in the nativity section as well as singing in the choir.. Despite her tonsillitis she put a 100% effort in for her small part in a wonderful school production.

She is still really focussing on raising money for cancer charities as a way of coping with her day's cancer. It's fabulous that she is thinking of others at a time she is hurting herself.

Well done to my Christmas angel and I hope to see more of the angelic side in 2013 ;-)

Is the honeymoon over?

Since I came back from my enforced divorce trip down south my daughter has not been herself at all. She has:

  • been more bolshy,
  • been attention seeking at school,
  • been in trouble at school for hitting other children,
  • has had to be dragged out from under my bed to go to school
  • has had major temper tantrums
  • told me she was lying about liking her new school she "hates it"
Her teacher has asked me to have a meeting about her to discuss the issue. This is more like she was behaving before we moved.

Situation Vacant

Job Title: Father Figure

Requirements (as per DD): Good looking, slim, rich, fun, have a dog

Applications: to DD as she will vet any potential new man in my life

Time frame: if DD had her way tomorrow, for me not until dust settled on divorce

So far she has offered me the potential of:

  • a recently separated dad from her school
  • "John the Plasterer" who's van we keep driving past
  • the security guard who offered to buy me a beer after I gave him some sun cream
  • Steve Backshall from Deadly 60 - she does sometimes have good taste ;-)

This could be a long drawn out process and hopefully once she has her Gramps in her life on a regular basis she may not be so desperate!

Career decision making aged 6..

my daughter and I had one of those slightly bizarre conversations you can have with a young child today. She had been talking about 1666 and saying that 1566 & 1466 were also bad years..

Me: What will it be like in 2066? How old will you be? take 56 and add 6
E: 56.... no 62. Will I be a granny?
Me: You could be depends on when you have children
E: 30 seems a popular age to be a mummy, I don't want to work just be a mummy so I might be younger
Me: well you can have a job whilst waiting to be a mummy
E: what jobs would be good to do whilst pregnant?:

  • artist - good as you can sit around all day
  • policeman - no good as you have work night's
  • midwife - bit scary helping other people have babies when you are pregnant
  • chemist - good as you just have to give out medicines all day
  • teacher - you can sit down all lot and just give out number work
think she seemed to believe artist would be the best option!
