#CountryKids at South Lakes Safari Zoo

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

After our exertions at Parkrun we headed for the South Lakes Safari Zoo for a value £5 visit. We only go in the winter when its discounted entry as its an expensive visit otherwise. When we go we have our favourite animals but also also enjoy seeing what has changed. This time we started with the giraffes:

Then we wandered past the rhinos and bears before spending ages admiring the baboons:

#CountryKids at Martin Haven

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

One day whilst we were in Pembrokeshire my son wasn't very well so he and I had to miss the 2 trips out to Tenby and Folly Farm. Instead we drove a little way around the coast to Martin Haven to see the local wildlife. Its a lovely spot adjacent to Skomer Island. The car park is National Trust so that saved us £5.

This is where you can get boats to the island to see the sea birds which at certain times include puffins. My son would not go in the boat so we had to make do with the land based birds:

As it was a lovely but windy day we hiked up onto the headland to see if we could see Skomer:

#CountryKids at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

With it being nice at the weekend my mum and I decide we needed to all get out and make the most of it. The hard thing was getting everyone to agree so in the end we headed to the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis which isn't too far away on the A6. We hadn't been since before my son started school so it had been a while!

When we arrived it was just about time for the meet the bugs talk so we headed to the inside exhibits first. These take you through a fascinating journey through evolution:

There was plenty of hand on stuff including this magnifying glass:

Or this bugatelle where your choices of things such as number of legs resulted in a different bug at the bottom. Both my two had several goes on this:
