Fitness Friday - week 3

So did the last week live up to my hopes from last week? Having had people comment that I looked slimmer I was hopeful when I went to class today and the answer is a very big YES!!! At my weigh in yesterday I had lost 5.5 lbs which is a great start to the Fitness Friday campaign. It makes me 0.5 lb away from losing a total of a stone since I started! The psychological effect of the first digit of my weight now being lower made me feel great, it also got me the Slimmer of the Week award.

How I did it:

Diet
I used the 5 lbs in 5 days menu plan from the Rosemary Conley February magazine. It was very restricted and I wasn't perfect but it did what it said. I had to have 2 days on 1,000 calories and then 3 days on 1,200 calories. As her kick start is 1,200 calories I maintained this level for the rest of the week.

Exercise
I finally managed to get the Wii Just Dance 2 game going on Sunday (the TV remote was missing for 2 days!). As it comes with built in fitness programmes I chose to go for a Tough Sweat challenge. Basically this means that you have to complete enough routines to earn 1,000 sweat points a day for 7 days. It takes me usually 3 dance tracks to pass this target and in fact my total sweat points for the week so far is well above the 1,000 a day. This is a really good way to exercise.

During my daily routine I have tried to be more active too. The stair run hasn't been as well adhered to ask I like but I have spent a lot less time sitting down. I also attended my exercise class at the weigh in - the teacher joked I was trying to lose another 5 lbs as I stuck to level 3 for most of the class. Funnily enough the more I do the more energy I have!

Plans for week ahead

Diet
I have received a 28 day Solo Slim pack from Rosemary Conley. It's all portion controlled including calories and fat so you only get the right amount but it's real food. I just need to add in fresh vegetables, fruit and some carbohydrates. Great for those of us who hate cooking 2 different meals from scratch when losing weight! It is based around a 2 week start of 1,200 calories a day then 2 weeks on 1,400. Apparently the average weight loss over 28 days is 15 lb so I will see if it lives up to that.

Exercise
I am going to up my Sweat session on the Just Dance to Intense and see how I go with that! Having tried Boney M Rasputin yesterday I know there are some very tough workouts included in the game. I also need to keep my daily activity levels at the raised level including as much walking as possible.

I have had another stroke of good luck and won a session with a Personal Fitness Instructor at L.I.F.E. at Troutbeck Bridge as I ticked a box whilst researching kids' swimming lessons! Hopefully she can give me a few pointers as to where to go with my fitness. I definitely need to tone up as the weight loss is leaving wobbly bits...

So the motto for the week is onwards and downwards! Not expecting a huge weight loss again but we will see what the next week brings.
