Countdown to Christmas Day 23: Christmas Bugs
Why is it that so many of us or our families from coughs, colds and flu at the moment? It makes for a real downer on the Christmas celebrations when all people want to do is curl up in bed with a box of tissues!
A combination of bad weather keeping us all indoors plus lots of communal events such as school nativities and pre-Christmas parties are all helping to spread the nasty bugs that are doing the rounds. It doesn't help that many people seem to have lower immunity at the minute as they have so much going on they don't have time to take care of themselves.
In my family I have both children coughing all day and my son has got antibiotics in case his condition gets worse over the Christmas weekend. My parents are both under the weather and other family members have had to take to bed in recent weeks. Lots of friends have either themselves or their children on medication or just hibernating due to ill health. Tonight on the news they showed how flu is on the rise at the minute too.
Maybe we should move Christmas to the summer to avoid all these bugs? Last year our Christmas was badly hit by illness with daughter having tonisillitis and myself with mastoiditis. In fact I can't remember a Christmas when one family member wasn't taken ill!
Here's hoping that we can all shake our bugs for the big day and wishing you all a healthy Christmas! For more Christmas posts hop over to Cafe Bebe.
