Sizergh Hike

We finally had a day with decent weather so we could have a 3 generation support bubble hike to Sizergh Castle. It's the best way to safely spend time with my mum until things improve. Our walk started on the Old Lancaster Canal along the old tow path and underneath the relict bridges:

After a steep descent from the canal we reached the river Kent. Sherlock sniffed out a painted rock and then led us across Wilson Bridge:

It was far too tempting not to make use of my son as camera man and film my daily whistle dance on the bridge. An interesting experience as the gets quite wobbly when you move around on it...

Reasons to be Cheerful: Nearly Half Term #R2BC

As an NQT and a parent its been quite a stressful half term so I am so happy next week is our break! Luckily there are always some things that keep me smiling and sane so that I am not totally stressed out.. Here are a few from this week:

1) Flowery treat

Nothing quite like bargain roses on the 15th of February. One of my favourite flowers and with no significant other to treat me it was nice to be able to treat myself:

2) First snowdrops

There is always something special about seeing your first snowdrops. It heralds that the end of winter is nigh and that spring is nearly here:

3) New running shoes

After nearly 2000 kilometres I finally gave in and replaced my running shoes. A wonderful treat for my feet:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Good riddance January! #R2BC

The lovely Ojo's World has handed back the reins for the blog hop for February so I hope I can stay organised enough to be ready (writing this at 11 PM!). The month of January was not a particularly fantastic one for my family so I am so looking forward to a new month which has to be better... Here are the reasons I am cheerful this week:

2) A successful Dry January

My now annual month of abstinence from alcohol has been successfully completed despite many days that were extremely stressful! As a late breaking update (a donation came in as I was typing!) I have raised £13 for Alcohol Concern. Hopefully this will all help people who can't give up alcohol for whatever reason:

Snowdrops

There is just something about seeing the first snowdrops each year. They are somehow the first indication that winter will end and everything will spring back to life. Not only that but they are beautiful to look at and so delicate.

So I was pleased to see them in the churchyard yesterday morning:

As it had snowed over night and into this morning I went back for another peek:
