Happy 730th blipday to me!

Way back on the 24th April 2010 I posted my first entry on my Blipfoto journal. Little did I know how addictive this would be and that 2 years later I would still be doing it and have only missed one day (due to moving house...).

Being on Blipfoto has helped me to improve my photography by making me seek out better shots for that 1 daily photo. Seeing other people's photographs is also an inspiration. Even better I have met up with some of them and its been lovely to make new friends.

It has also been a great way to record events and show our transition from loving in Hastings to living in Cumbria. Along the way I have collected certain sets of photos including Postboxes, pubs and door knockers! Here are some of my personal favourites:

Another week and another set of reasons to smile!


1) A Passion for Kendal


Being involved in this was such a blast. I've already written all about it here and here so not repeating myself! Just sharing a picture:

2) Easter fun with my children


We had a lovely time at Sizergh Castle on Sunday. A really fun day for us all and a great way to recover from the Passion Play. Eggs and face painting for the children and gardens and castle for me. Lots of smiles all round!

3) Sainsbury's Blogger Network

4) Loving the Lakes


Being up here is a reason to be a cheerful in itself and days like yesterday in Grasmere make it even more cheerful.

A Passion for Kendal

After months of planning and preparing today was finally the day when the first part of Kendal Community Theatre's A Passion for Kendal took place. My children and I were cast as non-speaking disciples but we appeared at the fringe of several scenes. If you check the official blog you can see if you can spot us! 


I rarely publish my children's faces on here but I wanted to share some photographs of us as a family of amateur thespians:

Another week and another set of reasons to smile!


1) Happy Birthday Granny!


My granny was 95 today!! The children and I visited her with a pile of birthday cards and mini birthday cake. Her main celebration is next week with all her sons, 3 daughters-in-law, 2 of her 7 grandchildren and 3 of her 8 grandchildren. Today it brought a smile to her face as we rolled up to see her. 


2) A Passion for Kendal


After all the months of planning and practising tomorrow is the big day! I have been running the social media for the project over at A Passion for Kendal and as a reward my children and I are playing silent roles as disciples. The town has already had banners put up on the streets and tonight we had our final rehearsal. Here's hoping the weather is as good tomorrow for the real thing:

3) Operation House

Following on from Monday's trip to Ikea I have successfully constructed all the flat pack furniture I bought for the kids' rooms. My son's bedroom is currently really tidy, my daughter's has work still to do! Here are the bits I built:

Family Fun: Mother's Day

Welcome to week 6 of the Family Fun blog hop. For more details please read the launch page. In the words of a classic 1970s children's TV programme this is about switching off the television and doing something more useful instead!


If you had fun on mother's day why not share your posts old and new? We had a very busy day starting with a far too early breakfast in bed with lovely homemade cards:

Then we did arts and crafts at church whilst selling the rest of the Yummy Mummy cakes in aid of CLIC Sargent. This made our final fund raising total of £45.

Afterwards my daughter made us a picnic so that we could go to the playground next to the house for lunch. We enjoyed a kick about with my son''s football before heading off to try out our costumes for A Passion for Kendal.

Then it was time for an hour at Abbott's Hall park playground where we bumped into several friends.  

Then home for the third viewing of Tangled this weekend whilst eating a Morrisons' Chinese meal.

Reasons to be Cheerful XXIV (#R2BC)

Always a good way to spend my Thursday counting my blessings so thanks once again Michelle. Now its going to be an easy place to start this week:
1) Summer's finally here
OK well its strictly Autumn but we didn't get much of a summer up here in Cumbria. We were teased by a fabulous Easter and then some hot weather in May but the main summer holidays weren't fantastic! I am so glad I hadn't got around to packing away my summer clothes and I'm making the most of the sun whilst it lasts (though remembering to apply sun tan cream is a good idea!).

2) The house
It may seem like a silly thing but the fact that the laundry isn't hanging around for days drying is making the house a lot less crowded. By doing a load a day (or even 3 yesterday!) and getting them on the line and getting them away the same day it seems a lot more manageable. The space now in the kitchen means that I've been able to get to the under stairs cupboard enough to sort out and can now shut the door!
3) My children
They both still seem happy in their new classes at school. My son is still keen on getting in to class in the morning. I had a lovely afternoon volunteering in his class when they go to Forest School. They go up to the top of the school grounds and have lots of fun in the little woodland and the open spaces. I'm looking forward to doing this every week. My daughter seems to be doing especially well in science and history (her favourite subjects!) and is looking forward to her first overnight school trip next week. She has planned her birthday sleep over for the following week down to the finest detail!
4) Kendal Passion Play
Last night I went with the children to the launch of A Passion For Kendal by Kendal Community Theatre. This is an exciting project that I am running the social media campaign for. My daughter was impressed on meeting his Worship the Mayor of Kendal:

There has been a slight adjustment to my normal Saturday posts as I've been working on a new blog for A Passion For Kendal. This is a Kendal Community Theatre project for Easter 2012 and they are looking for volunteers for the cast and the technical team. Hop on over to see what it's all about!
