Reasons to be cheerful: Running away... #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

A slightly later than scheduled reasons to be cheerful this week as I had a much needed lie in! Last week's happy linkers included reasons such as job and couch to 5k, I wonder what this week will include? Any how here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Proud mum

My son is doing really well in his running at the moment. He was 11th at the first BOFRA fell race last Saturday and then 2nd in a fun run at Brathay marathon on Sunday:

2) Flying Feet

On Sunday I took part in the inaugural Brathay 5k. It was a tough route with plenty of hills. I saved myself a bit for a glory run sprint finish. Made for an awesome official photo:

3) Girls' Night

My daughter and I joined the Aspergers' group at the pub again. It's a lovely social evening. Beforehand we had mucked about with snapchat to do those gender swap pics. This is me as a man and a woman:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Home Sweet Home #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

Its a miracle I am ready in time to host Reasons to be Cheerful this week! No need for Michelle to dash to the rescue - thanks for last week. I look forward to seeing what is making everyone smile this week: grab the badge, link up and share the love.

1) Holiday memories

After a fortnight in Wales I have so many happy memories to look back on:

It is however wonderful to back home and close to my family again.

2) Bejewelled

How could the sight of a rose like this not make you smile:

Reasons to be Cheerful: parkrun, Pokemon and roses #R2BC

So glad that Michelle is hosting again this month so we can all share the happy! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Back to Fell Foot parkrun:

It was far too long since we ran around the park. Such a fun and friendly parkrun even in the rain:

2) Remembrance Day

My school observed a super 2 minute whole school silence on the Friday and then on the Sunday I thought about my ancestors who served and fortunately survived the First World War like my grandfather:

3) Weekend stroll

Love my weekend walks with my children hunting Pokemon. This is my son chilling under the underpass whilst collecting from a Pokestop:

4) Still going

My neighbour's roses are still holding on:

What is making you smile this week?

Reasons to be Cheerful: Camping Fun #R2BC

The lovely Michelle is back from her summer holidays and hosting the linky for September. Thanks to everyone who joined in during August and I will be back hosting in October. Here are my reasons to be cheerful this month:

1) Roses

My roses are still holding their own and look beautiful whatever the weather and it makes me smile to look out the kitchen window at them:

2) Trip down memory lane

My friend posted this photograph of my son at a medieval reenactment when he was a toddler. An authentic dress for my historic tot:

Reasons to be cheerful: Enjoying the holidays #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

Thank you everyone who joined in last week despite it being the school holidays! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) Rose

My roses are still going strong and they are looking stunning at the moment:

2) Car trouble

A reason not to be cheerful was my car failing its MOT this weekend... However the garage managed to make me legal again in time for a drive down south!

3) Fun with friends

We spent the weekend with my school friends back in Buckinghamshire. A super sunny day in their garden and my son loved their table tennis table:

4) Shiny fridge

Having a low stock of food in meant that I got a chance to give my fridge a thoroughly deep clean. A good chance to chuck out things that have expired and get everything better organised.

5) Maize Maze

A fun day to make up for a housework day! We got thoroughly lost in the maize maze:

Reasons to be Cheerful: 10 Green Bottles #R2BC

I am so glad that Michelle is back hosting this month as she was the original founder of this super linky. Hosting will be back with me in August! Here are my reasons to be cheerful this week:

1) 10 Green Bottles

This was hanging in my grandparents' dining room for nearly all my childhood. It is now above my dining table so I can remember them every time I see it:

2) Being looked after

I was unwell at the weekend and my son brought me lunch in bed:

3) Proud mum #1

My son won a silver medal in an inter school athletic competition. He threw a ball 5 metres in the chest push to get it:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Caterpillars, Roses and Odd Socks #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

It was great to read so many happy posts again and welcome some new linkers, hopefully some regulars will be back this week if their lives aren't so crazy! Here are my reasons this week:

1) Garden Surprises

Whilst weeding the garden I discovered that we had lots of Cinnabar moth caterpillars on the ragwort. Of course this means I daren't remove all of this invasive and poisonous plant but the moths are worth saving:

2) Roses

These are one of my favourite flowers and at the moment they are just looking stunning everywhere. This is one that belongs to a neighbour:

Flowery Friday

Amazed I still found a flower looking good enough to photograph! Weather has now gone very cold so guess there may not be many more...

Reasons to be Cheerful Week 30 The Sneezing edition #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful at Mummy from the Heart

Having spent much of the last week with a stinking cold (thanks kids!) its harder to be cheerful but I have managed to find a few rays of sunshine:

1) Sunny Sunday in the Park

Having been house bound and mostly horizontal on Saturday it was fabulous to be out and about on Sunday. After church the lovely sunshine lured us to spend a few hours down at Abbott Hall park. Whilst the children played I soaked up the sun and enjoyed the local paper with a coffee:

Then we took the longer route home along the canal path and river bank:

2) Last of the sunflowers

It's fellow flowers are now just food for birds and homes for spiders:

3) Picnic teas in the park

There won't be many more of these but whilst they last we are making the most of them:

And yesterday's one by Windermere was wonderful too.

4) Fabulous Roses

Spotted a wonderful bush full of roses whilst walking into town yesterday. Just so beautiful:

5) Moving Up

My daughter is in year 5 so our first chance to start looking at secondary schools! Scary to think she is nearly at that secondary age but we started by looking around the school I work at on its Open Evening. We all loved the musical performances that were put on. Each department had also put out hands on stuff for students to try. Wish we had had more time to see it all (will have to wait for next year!). It was good to see our historical reenacting kit being used in the history department:

And in the PE department my daughter made the most of a mini trampolining lesson:
