Reasons to be Cheerful: Half Term, YouTube, Tots 100 and more #R2BC

R2BC at Mummy from the Heart

I have lost track of the days as its the school holidays so only just realised its Thursday and time for Reasons to be Cheerful! Hopefully folks will still join in and share the love. Despite having a cold for a few days I have had plenty of reasons to be cheerful during a week off school:

1) Marshalling and Filming at Fell Foot parkrun

I had my monthly volunteering slot at my local parkrun by marshalling at one of the turns. I managed to combine it with videoing the runners too. Amazing how many smiles I managed to raise in the rain:

2) Barbondale Fell Race

This has to be one of the most entertaining fell races to watch. It is so steep most runners come down at least some of the route on their bottoms or in one case fronts! There were a few spectacular face plants as well. My son helped me film this time and our videos have had nearly 1000 views in less than week!! Here is the summary video:

3) Fixed Internet

Just as my YouTube videos were becoming popular my Internet connection had lost lots of it upload speed so it was taking a day to upload one video! BT finally sent out an engineer and the upload speed has gone back up to taking only a couple of hours for one of the videos:

Reasons to be Cheerful Half Term Edition #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

A slightly later than normal reasons to be cheerful! Thank you everyone for joining in last week I think I visited you all. Here are my reasons this week's:

1) Time with my daughter

Being a single parent getting one to one time with each child can be very hard. Often my daughter gets less time as her little brother has activities such as running that I am also involved in. He is too young to be left for too long whilst I go to something with her.

She and I are managing to sneak a few things in and on Friday she had an INSET day and he didn't. So we went down the road to K Village to try out the new Mediterranean style restaurant for lunch:

She has more sophisticated food tastes than her brother so we were able to be a bit more adventurous!

2) Family Time

Of course spending time with the wider family we have up here is very important to us. We all lead busy lives so it was great to be able to get out with my mum to go to the Wool Gathering at the weekend. Interesting to see where my 12 year old measures up to Granny as by her age I was 5 cm taller than my mum!

3) Running buddies

Running in the school holidays is so much more pleasant when I have a child willing to come along with me. This week my son came along to do some trail running by the river. Such a shame his leg was too sore to go more than 3 k!

Family Fun: Half Term Edition

Welcome to week 4 of the Family Fun blog hop. For more details please read the launch page. In the words of a classic 1970s children's TV programme this is about switching off the television and doing something more useful instead!

The majority of schools have just returned after half term so please link up with posts letting us know what you got up to during the break!

We have had a fairly relaxed time with not a lot going on as the lurgy was effecting more than one of us! I will link up the posts I did about some of the fun we have had.
