Fitness Friday breaking records

I am really enjoying my October run streak and getting out every day exploring the choices of runs my new home offers. If I want a challenge I can head up hill and around the back of the Helm. The lane along the back is very peaceful and this week I hardly met a soul as I went along:

There is a heck of climb at the end of the lane but you make up for it on the run back down to the bottom! It was this hill that gave me the PBs I wrote about yesterday. On my birthday I tried some new paths and explored the other bank of the river Kent:

Now I have a Camelbak to carry water I am looking forward to exploring further out into the countryside. Its not all about the long runs though as sometimes I only have time for a quickie like last night when I had 15 minutes so shot out the door and did my mile. The time pressure must have given me wings:

Today I decided to combine a trip to Aldi to spend birthday money on running kit, a test of the Camelbak and a long run. I took the hilly route to get there to make sure I built in the fitness and then as I was carrying shopping I came back via the canal path. Turned out I'd done a respectable 8 km!:

When I got home I discovered that my Run Mummy Run "She Cracked It" medal for my 10k run the other day:

Reasons to be Cheerful: Birthday edition 2015 #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

Thanks everyone for joining in last week I am doing my best to visit you all! Its great when people find the happy little things when life can seem grim. Here are this week's reasons for me:

1) Proud Mummy

My daughter took me past the shop window which has the artwork she has helped make for the Comic Art Festival with her school. In fact I helped cut out some of the badger material as she had sprained her fingers!

My son has got hooked on the competitiveness of Mathletics and at various points this week has been 12th in the UK and 33rd worldwide!

2) Running

On Monday I'd one of those mornings when things weren't going right. So I headed out the door and went for a run to clear my head. Going up hill wasn't pretty but it felt like I was flying back down and I broke so many PRs:

I am obviously a downhill runner!

3) Beautiful days

With this being birthday week for both myself and my daughter we are feeling blessed with the weather. Yes its rather chilly first thing but boy is is stunning around Kendal at the moment:

4) Birthdays

Finally yes it was my birthday and I was lucky to be given the latest instalment of one of my favourite series. I treated myself yesterday to half an hour in Costa with a massive coffee and the book!

Reasons to be Cheerful: A mixed bag #R2BC

Reasons to be Cheerful

Thanks everyone for joining in last week. Its great when people find the happy little things when life can seem grim. Here are this week's reasons for me:

1) Running Together

Its not often I get photographed running but at Parkrun this week one of the regulars was practising his sports' photography. Great to see my son's determined sprint finish and I was obviously enjoying running with a lovely lady from St Andrews:

2) Yummy cooking

My daughter's cookery lesson this week was apple crumble. Absolutely delicious:

3) Operation House

The hall and landing have finally been painted. It makes a huge difference and we can finally get the carpets put in 4 months after ordering them:

4) Flowers

Wonderful to see these beauties still flowering in my garden:
