Supermarket Review: #MorrisonsMum Morrisons Price Cuts

Sponsored Post

I was very lucky to be selected as one of BritMums Morrisons Mums and Dads. We were all sent £80 of vouchers to go and check out the new price cuts at Morrisons. I regularly shop at my local store as I happen to work almost next door but have to admit its been a while since I did a full weekly shop there. They are brilliant for their fresh meat, bakery and greengrocery so I set off with a plan for a weekend of BBQs and picnics and plenty of reusable bags to pack it in!

The new prices are all signed with great big yellow signs so its easy to spot them on the shelves. There were also plenty of other tempting offers especially for fruit and veg:

I have to admit I got a wee bit carried away and bought far more than I would normally get but some of it is things that we will be using over the next week or so. Here are a few of the things we enjoyed over the bank holiday weekend:

Antipasto

This worked out at less than a £1 per person if divided between 4. The baguettes are now only 50p which is an amazing bargain.

I made the most of the 3 for £10 on meats and bought lamb chops and burgers for the BBQ plus mince for tonight's tea. With only 3 of us eating each time there were more than enough burgers for 2 BBQs especially when we added variety with sausages one day (these were 2 packs of 6 for £5):

and for my daughter and I lamb chops the second night:

All of the meat was really tender and succulent and we all enjoyed it very much! Of course one of the biggest treats for us was having a dessert every night which we don't normally do. Some of these were more healthy than others. First up eton mess:

For this I crushed up a packet of meringue nests, stirred in some whipped cream and some raspberries. This worked out at 85 pence per person when shared between 4 people. Nice and simple and oh so tasty!

My daughter also rustled up some fruit kebabs using a fresh pineapple and some strawberries:

Of course these had to be dipped into melted chocolate:

With the pineapple costing 50 pence and the strawberries £1.50 this was an inexpensive dessert. The chocolate was something we already had in!

Of course you need something nice to wash all this lovely food down with. Another thing that Morrisons have a great reputation for their own brand beer and cider. I chose a box of vintage cider at £4.99 which would last me through the weekend:

This was a very nice, smooth and dry drink and I learned the hard way to only have it out of small glasses! All in all a delicious bank holiday weekend that didn't break the bank.

At least one person I know has tried Morrisons for the first time after my recommendation! Have you tried your local store?
