#Juneathon day 10 - nearly failed!

Well I knew this was going to be a tough gig as some days I have very little time for exercise! Today was one of them... My total recorded walking was a rather pathetic one:

I wasn't being bone idle though.. I wrangled the guinea pigs into their outdoor run (this can be pretty tough going!). Then I emptied out my car and vacuumed it which was a good workout as I hadn't done that for over a month... Thank goodness tomorrow is a running day...

#Juneathon Day 9 Some running and a wet walk

Can't believe its day 9 of Juneathon and I am still managing a daily exercise blogpost! Today I went on a 10 km runner training run. It felt quite hard after Saturday's race but I completed the session at a slightly slower speed than last week...

Hopefully I will pick up some speed on Wednesday for my next session as I have signed up for the Herdwick 10 km race in Langdale on the 5th of July and I want to beat my April result:

191st overall, 65th female, F40 category 15th 06.48 min/km 10.57 min/mile total 01:08:04

I then walked to work and got soaked in a monsoon! School run was via walking and train so another respectable Juneathon total:

I may struggle a bit tomorrow as need to drive to work... but I will exercise somehow and keep up my record!

#CountryKids Beaver Sports Day and #Juneathon day 8

Country Kids from Coombe Mill Family Farm Holidays Cornwall

Straight after yesterday's Grasmere Gallop we headed for my son's Beaver Scouts district sports' day in Coniston. Lots of fun traditional sports with my son gaining medals in:
  1. long jump
  2. welly wanging (hammer)
  3. sack race

His colony ended up coming 3rd overall in the competition which is their best ever result! It was fabulous watching 6 and 7 year olds trying their hardest to win each event. Even the ones that were outside in the rain they tried their best.

No wonder they all tucked into a hearty tea of bangers, mash and beans in the evening! For many of them this was their first night away from home without their parents (my son of course had me... but I tried to ignore him!). Very late that night after watching a Clutch Powers' DVD they finally attempted to sleep in their colony rooms:

#Juneathon day 7 #GrasmereGallop

Today's big run 5.7km against the clock and 99 other entrants for the 2014 Grasmere Gallop fun run!

I will up date with proper finish times and photographs later as there isn't time today... My 7 year old running his first event longer than 1 mile so it will be interesting to see how it compares to the 41 minutes I did it in 2013 when it was my first ever serious race:

Back online with my results! It was wet, wet, wet and my son had to find some awesome reserves but we were faster!

Here are our official photos from 21C Photos:

And this is our after shot with my son completely exhausted:

I was the 8th adult female and he was the 15th child (and possibly beat all others his age!) so a good result. He has agreed to sign up again for next year - join us it can't be any where near as wet.... can it?

#Juneathon Day 6 - a record breaker!

Today turned out to be pretty hot for Kendal in early June. I popped out for a short pre-race run but it was so warm and still I struggled, I didn't want to push it and blow the race tomorrow! So at least I went out and ran 5 km but apart from the first kilometre of running I was below recent speeds:

At least it looked amazing on such a beautiful day:

It was so nice and I no excuse not to get organised and walk to work, then I walked into town for some errands and back home... Amazing how quickly you can rack up a record breaking 8km plus of walking without trying! Just 24 more days of the challenge to go...
