Reasons to be Cheerful: Half Term, YouTube, Tots 100 and more #R2BC
I have lost track of the days as its the school holidays so only just realised its Thursday and time for Reasons to be Cheerful! Hopefully folks will still join in and share the love. Despite having a cold for a few days I have had plenty of reasons to be cheerful during a week off school:
1) Marshalling and Filming at Fell Foot parkrun
I had my monthly volunteering slot at my local parkrun by marshalling at one of the turns. I managed to combine it with videoing the runners too. Amazing how many smiles I managed to raise in the rain:
2) Barbondale Fell Race
This has to be one of the most entertaining fell races to watch. It is so steep most runners come down at least some of the route on their bottoms or in one case fronts! There were a few spectacular face plants as well. My son helped me film this time and our videos have had nearly 1000 views in less than week!! Here is the summary video:
3) Fixed Internet
Just as my YouTube videos were becoming popular my Internet connection had lost lots of it upload speed so it was taking a day to upload one video! BT finally sent out an engineer and the upload speed has gone back up to taking only a couple of hours for one of the videos:
4) Fixing things
I was considering having to bin my chalkboard as the chalk pens had permanently left my daughter's year 8 timetable on them. A scrub with The Pink Stuff (affiliate link) and it is useable again:
5) Tots 100
I am back in the top 250 for the first time in over 2 years! Its a wonderful feeling to be so high up in the charts when there are so many amazing blogs in it. The recent good work and building up my following on all my social media is obviously paying off:
So now I am looking forward to reading and sharing everyone else's happy posts this week.
Respect about the Tots 100 ranking. I'm still stuck in the 500s and desperate to get back into the top 500. On the video I did have a little chuckle when the first lot reached the top of the hill and they sent them straight back down again. I thought it was going to be a cross country thing for miles and miles. It does look very tough though - I don't think I could do it. And the seniors coming down is very entertaining, hilarious in parts.
Congratulations on the getting back up there in the Tots! I've seen how much work you've been doing on your social media: it obviously pays off, well done. Love the videos: the fell run looks incredible, so unbelievably steep, it's hard to imagine how anyone can run up those slopes!
Looks like a really tough race. That's a cool video! I'd like to learn more about making and editing videos for my blog etc; What editing app are you using? #CountryKids
I can feel their pain in the video, going up that steep a hill must burn on their legs, no wonder it was a half walk, half stagger half jog. A really tough one and not helped by the cold I'm sure. Loving your view whilst waiting for them though!
Oh gosh vertical races sound tough! How great of you to still be filming it even though your son decided not to take part. Great commitment to the group. Some very tough cookies indeed! #countrykids
Can I just say that even though I havent been commenting on your last 2-3 countrykids post I do check them out hehe. I am so glad that I can comment today! I love your passion for running and now documenting them. I really wanted to run but I always have an excuse hehe. But one day I will try it! #countrykids
Reading your posts always makes my legs ache!!! Such a great way to enjoy outdoor time and get fit too. That is a hill!!!! And great that your son knows his limits but still supports the group #CountryKids

ReplyDeleteThe little ones (8-12) only go about 1.2 km. Adults its up to 6 miles depending on the race... Next week we have water up to the waist...
ReplyDeleteNext stop 100! Its hard enough walking up them...
